There is a very famous pagoda in Gia Thanh - Gia Vien - Ninh Binh province (considered to be the 3 most beautiful pagodas in Vietnam) that is Dich Long pagoda. It's legendary that the cave was found out in 1739 with many stalitiles and stalimites especially buddha-like one and it is worshipped since.
Situated in Tam Coc - Bich Dong tourism area, Thai Vi temple was built to remember the Kings of Tran dynasty for establishment of Vu Lam Royal step-over in 1258 after the Kings passed away. The temple was built in " Noi Cong Ngoai Quoc" ( Internal attack with outside support) style. Particularly, the temple has many acient works that have cultural and historical value, such as the temple arch, stone horse, bell tower and especially a row of monolithic stone pillars in the temple.
Bai Dinh Pagoda is famous for its great size and imposingness. The pagoda will be also set more record for the owner of the most Arhat Statues in ASEAN with 500 Arhat statues made of stone and stand higher than human’s head.
Located behind a range of limestone mountains in Gia Sinh Commune, Gia Vien District, Ninh Binh Province, the site with construction lying about in disorder and in the way, so it is difficult to imagine its beauty as well as its solemn to a pagoda in the true sense of the word as the tradition.
Phat Diem Cathedral was built between 1875 and 1899 four roofs and six sets of iron wooden pillars and consists of a network of ponds, lakes, churches, and artificial caves.
Phuong Dinh Church, part of the Phat Diem complex, is a giant building entirely made of stone. Numerous stone sculptures are on the inside and outside walls. A large bell cast in the 1890s weighing nearly 2 tons is found in the bell tower.
In 1773, Mr. Nguyen Nghiem (the father of the great writer Nguyen Du) visited this cave. After viewing the whole scenery of the mountains, waterways, fields, and sky covered in green mist, he gave the cave a very beautiful and romantic name, Bich Dong (which literally means “Green Pearl Grotto”). Bich Grotto has been said that the second most beautiful cave in Vietnam.
